During the course the candidate will be up dated with the knowledge in theoretical & particle of shipping industry, Shipping Practices, Ship board organization, seaman ship, Working Knowledge in lifting device, nautical terms, load line marks, Navigation rules of road fire fighting, anchoring/ mooring / rigging/ operations, survival at sea, cargo handling and stowage, fist aid at sea bride watch keeping, first aid medical care, general layout of ship engine room, health hazards and personal safety engine watch keeping and duties, signaling, ship on board maintenance , accident prevention, safe working practices, uniform system of buoy age, lubrication, life saving appliances, physical training swimming, boating, visits to the ship. The candidates also undergo the training in the course as required under the Standards of training Certification and watch keeping.
(STCW-2010) convention. After completion of G.P. Rating course, the course certificate will be issued by the academy approved by director general of shipping, Ministry of surface and Transport govt.of India. In additional to that candidate will be awarded with CDC (Continuous Discharge Certification).
A competent person can aspire to become the master (Captain) of a Merchant Ship after required sea time and passing various Exams.
