During the course the candidate will be update with the knowledge in 6g, SMAW/ MMAW/ IWGC Theoretical & practical of deck, engine, welding & fitting on board. They employed in the engine for routine maintenance of the vessel, up keep of different machineries, boilers, pumps. They basically assist the engineers in the rout in function of the engine room. At sea, they keep a record and monitor the running of the machinery and assist the engineer officer on duty. The candidates also under go to training in the courses as required under the standards of training certification and watch keeping STCW-2010 convention. After completion pre se training the course certificate will be issued by the academy approved by director general of shipping. Ministry of surface and transport Govt. of India. In addition to that candidate will be awarded will be award With CDC (continuous discharge certificate).
A competent person can go to the level of Master(Captain) of a merchant navy after required sea time and passing various exam.
